We've arrived in La Spezia

We had a fairly uneventful train ride into La Spezia. There were four Frenchwomen in our section in the carriage.  They were lovely but they talked and talked! As promised, Nadia, our host here, met us at the station with her nephew Lorenzo.  He speaks English and was very good at explaining everything to us.  We're very close to the station and about a fifteen minute walk away from the city centre.  La Spezia seems a bit grubby, but full of life.  We walked into the city centre and down to the pier which was teeming with people and lots of fishing boats.  It's very pretty.  When we walked back into the square we found a nice little restaurant where we had a delicious Italian meal.
