Day 2 at Lake Como

It's been a challenge to coordinate the bus and ferries from the timetables but we thought we had it mastered. Not quite. After a late wake we caught the bus to Menaggio. Another scary experience but you just look at the view and try to ignore everything else. Menaggio is beautiful and we found a beautiful little spot to have a coffee and panini.

After working out the ferry time to Varenna, we spent some time exploring Menaggio.

The scenery on the way to Varenna was amazing. The mountains looked like soft grey folded velvet.

 The scenery is just stunning wherever you look. Little townships nestled along the shore of the lake and places perched high up in the surrounding hills. 

We got the ferry to Varenna then walked along the lake edge for quite a way to see the Villa Monastero. It has the most amazing gardens.

Caught the 5.20 ferry back to Menaggio where we had dinner at a place overlooking the lake. Unfortunately it started to rain but luckily we were prepared and had our umbrellas. Got the bus back to Brienno. It seems you add 15 to 20 minutes into the timetable to get the exact time the buses go!! All in all another fab day with incredible sights.
