Uzes

Had a bit of a quiet day today. Slow start, I think we're recovering from the long drive. We found a supermarket and bought a few provisions including eggs and fruit. Felt like eggs for breakie so came home and cooked up scrambled eggs and tomato. Yum. Went for a wander to explore and we visited the palace of the Duchy of Uzes. Still an ancestral line but they don't live there of course. We tossed up about doing the tour which was part of the entry fee and as it turned out all in French!  We did, however, have a booklet in English explaining everything. The palace was started in 1079 but had been added to at different stages of history. We visited the dungeons and the tower which had a breathtaking view of Uzes and beyond. It was pretty scary for me as I am not too keen on heights but it was stunning looking out across the township and surrounding.countryside.

See the holes in the tower - a small child could easily fall through.  Pretty scary! When Helen leaned over the edge, it made my palms sweat!
